EJI 2026 Revisited

In February 2026, UWOC traveled to Montgomery with two full busloads of participants to experience the Legacy Sites - including the Legacy Museum, the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park, and the Legacy Sites Boat Experience.

Guest Rachel Lackey, Green Pea Press Owner/Founder:

“Last year, I attended the UWOC field trip for the first time with my teenage daughter; it was so powerful that this year, I purchased tickets for my employees and opted to close the business for the day so that we could all attend. Social justice is an important part of our purpose at Green Pea Press, and this was the perfect opportunity for us to have a meaningful and educational experience together as part of a diverse group.

The Legacy Sites are crafted in such a way that every aspect of the exhibits feels deeply personal and moving, while linking historical events into a narrative that has not been emphasized in the same way at any other museum I’ve been to.

We all came away adamant that everyone in the United States should visit the EJI Legacy Sites AT LEAST once. I’m deeply grateful to UWC and the sponsors for hosting this trip to help make it even more accessible.”
