From Operations to IT: How Cierra Jackson Is Building a New Path Through Grow with Google

1) What prompted you to enroll in the Grow with Google program?
I was at a point in my career where I knew I was capable of more, but I also wanted a path that offered growth, stability, and a better work-life balance. After spending years in operations and leadership roles, I found myself constantly solving problems and learning new systems, which naturally led me toward IT. When I came across the Grow with Google program for Women of Color, it felt like the perfect opportunity to pivot into a field I was genuinely interested in while building real, in-demand skills.
2) Which certificate did you complete?
I completed the IT Support Professional Certificate, which gave me a strong foundation in troubleshooting, system operations, networking basics, and understanding how technology supports everyday business functions.
3) How do you hope this certification will help you achieve your career goals?
This certification is the first step in my transition into the tech space. My goal is to build a career that allows me to combine my strong problem-solving skills, operational experience, and growing technical knowledge. I’m especially interested in continuing into cybersecurity and project management, and this program has given me the confidence and foundation to move forward in those areas. Long-term, I’m focused on building a career that not only offers growth, but also aligns with the kind of balance and fulfillment I value.
4) Would you recommend Grow with Google to others?
Absolutely. I would highly recommend Grow with Google to anyone looking to gain real, practical skills and explore new career opportunities. The program is structured in a way that makes learning accessible, even for those transitioning from a completely different field. It’s been a great experience, and it’s opened doors for me that I didn’t previously see as possible.
