Afternoon at the LIGHT Institute: Self-Defense, De-Escalation, and Disengagement
As part of the LIGHT Institute’s mission to cultivate empowered leaders and resilient communities, we spent an afternoon learning self-defense skills with “Cap” Tomas Quinn (he/him).
Cap (in green shirt in back) drew on decades of martial arts training to teach us how to recognize and respond to tense situations, use verbal and nonverbal strategies to defuse conflict, and safely disengage when necessary.
The training left us feeling more confident, prepared, and connected—ready to embody the harmony and collective support at the heart of the LIGHT Institute’s vision.
