BEYOND THE RHETORIC CANDIDATE FORUMS
An important aspect of civic engagement and social justice is being informed and up to date on the issues in our local community. UWOC hosts up to four events per year where guests are invited to discuss topics that affect the day-to-day life of minority populations. such as:
Health disparities in African American and Latina communities,
Economic and educational opportunities for financial uplifting and reducing the wealth gap,
Importance of voting and civic engagement,
The nature of societal relationships between law enforcement and minorities, and
Fostering cultural awareness and acceptance to dismantle white supremacy.
