United Women of Color Celebrates Intersectionality at 7th Year Anniversary Celebration

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”
Keynote speaker and Yellowhammer Fund Executive Director Jenice Fountain reminded us of the African proverb:
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
I believe this to be true. And I believe that on August 22, 2025, the people in that room came to go far—to make change, and to do it together.
August 22 was more than an event. It was a celebration of seven years and a living picture of our theme: Intersectionality.
The program reflected the strength of our community:
Harpist Victoria Greer set the tone with music.
Emcee Demetria Green guided us with grace and laughter.
Keynote speaker Jenice Fountain informed and inspired.
Angela Curry, Executive Director, and Amia Robinson, Volunteer Coordinator, honored our volunteers, board or directors, and LIGHT Institute graduates.
Spoken Word Artist Queen Keiani brought the house down—again.
Our own Iris Billiter lifted us to our feet in song together.
In honor of seven years, we invite you to become a $7/month donor and help keep the UWOC mission running strong. Thank you for standing with us!
Enjoy the photos from this year—and keep your eye out for next year. There’s more work ahead, and we’ll go farther together.
